AIC and FAIC programs and publications play a key role in the advancement of the field of conservation and the cohesion of the community that dedicates itself to the preservation of cultural material.
Programs
Grants and Scholarships
FAIC is proud to be able to give a variety of grants and scholarships each year to help conservation professionals further the understanding and development of the field of conservation. In 2006 alone, FAIC awarded nearly 100 grants and scholarships, totaling over $167,000.
Annual Meeting
The AIC annual meeting brings together over 1,000 conservators from across the country and abroad to discuss the various issues conservators face. Through workshops, tours, poster sessions and presentations, attendees explore a specific theme pertinent to the field, from documentation of objects to identifying fakes and forgeries. It is a chance to network and explore new ideas and information with other conservators, exhibitors, and affiliated professionals.
Professional Development Workshops
With the support of The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and contributions from individuals, in 2001 FAIC established an endowment fund for professional development activities aimed at mid-level conservation professionals. In the first four years of operation, FAIC sponsored over 75 programs and workshops reaching over 1,261 individuals.
