The Education and Training Committee (ETC) is charged with advancing the membership’s knowledge of conservation practices and information through providing and implementing continuing education programs, funding workshops and personal development endeavors, and promoting dissemination of current conservation information and issues.

Charges for the ETC:

• Work in conjunction with the AIC Board Director of Professional Education and Training and staff Professional Development Director in recommending short and long-term goals and program content for continuing education programs for membership.

• Assist the Director of Professional Education and Training and Professional Development Director with planning of workshops and reviewing professional development award applications and proposals from the membership as needed.

• Assist the Certification Development Committee in developing working group tasks related to educational goals for a certification program plan.

• In conjunction with students, the Board, staff, Membership Committee and training programs, develop and implement strategies to increase student interaction within AIC.

The ETC consults with the AIC Professional Development Director, Dr. Eric Pourchot, and its AIC Board Director of Professional Education and Training, Karen Pavelka on a routine basis. Committee members engage in issues raised by the membership concerning professional development, continuing education, certification, possible AIC sponsorship of workshops, and grant applications.

FAIC Grant Applications

The ETC reviews many of the applications for FAIC grants. Committee members review each application and recommendations are then submitted to the AIC board for final distribution of funds. Among the applications the ETC reviews are:
