The History of the ASG

The Architectural Specialty Group was added to the AIC specialty group roster in 1988 and has a rich history of members who have made a great contribution to increasing the awareness and professional practice of this conservation specialty.

As a group we spend much of our professional time trying to understand the history of the culture and the artifacts we are working with and yet we're not always aware of our own unique heritage within the AIC organization. Although ASG was an addition to the original AIC specialty groups, there is still a long heritage of members in the past who have made major contributions to the development of the group, and to AIC as a whole.

For those who have served as officers, ASG committee chairs and members, liaisons to external groups, AIC committee members and have supported the ASG in numerous activities through the years, the current membership owes a debt of gratitude.

Bringing together the pieces of our history is a work "in-progress". If you have additional information, a correction to anything listed here, or just a general suggestion about how to add to the history of the ASG e-mail your comments to James Cocks
